Cairo – Al-Bawaba News Portal learnt from its exclusive sources that the jihadist cell of ‘Mua’az Al Masry’, closely connected to ‘Al Qaeda’ (a global terrorist group) is involved in the attack on al-Naqb checkpoint, Egypt’s New Valley Governorate, which occurred late Sunday’s evening and left eight Egyptian policemen killed.
The sources said that such a cell may be close to Al Qaeda group, yet is simultaneously regarded as an extension of ‘Ajnad Misr’, or ‘Soldiers of Egypt’ group, which was a part of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis ‘Supporters of Jerusalem in English’ before its leader ‘Hamam Attia’ left, following differences in strategies.
On 10 November 2014, many members of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis took an oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of terrorist group ‘the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Within the framework of Al Qaeda new strategy, aiming to regain presence in Egypt, the sources added, upon instructions of its Egyptian spearhead “Ayman Al Dhawahri”, the terroristic group drafted a plan, which was named ‘Kinanah and return to Egypt’ (Kinanah is an Arabic old nick name for Egypt, which indicates safety and means ‘quiver’ in English). The plan was initiated by a number of speeches given by Al Qaeda leader, who charged a number of its members in Egypt, Libya and Syria with setting up a new group that secretly pledges allegiance to Al Qaeda and carries out its activities in Egypt, supported by the group’s branches there. The new militant group is dubbed ‘Kinanah’.
Sources also stated that Al Qaeda elements in Libya and Syria started contacting a number of jihadist Salafi, mainly Muslim Brotherhood(MB) young members, who reverted against MB’s policies since June 30th and formed the new cell. They were assigned with forming the new organization, provided that the task will be handled by ‘Abu Al Farag Al Masri’ and ‘Ahmad Salama Mabrouk’, the famous leader in ‘Jabhat Fateh al-Sham’, or ‘Front for Conquest of Levant’, and the former companion of ‘Al Dhawahri’ in fighting in Afghanistan, but he was killed in an air strike in Syria last October. These pieces of information were entrusted to one of Al Qaeda’s ‘ancient warriors’, whose name remained anonymous.
As well, and still according to the sources, a group of the young men will be smuggled to the Libyan lands to be trained by Al Qaeda groups there, then, they will be back to carry out terroristic operations. The financing of the group will depend on funds from Libya, which will be sent through smugglers to Egypt. The sources pointed out that the central cell of Al Qaeda is ‘Mua’az Al Masry Battalion’, while the head of the cell will supervise the media and propagation tasks, in addition to drafting its publications and broadcasting the speeches of its leadership. According to the sources, ‘Hesham Ashmawi’, who fled to Libya two years ago, met with Al Qaeda Leader in Libya ‘Mokhtar Belmokhtar’, also known as ‘Abu Al Abbas’. The two parties agreed to form new cells, under the name of ‘Al-Murabitoun’ group (a mainly North African terroristic group) too.
